Wisconsin Quilt Study Group
April 13, 2013
Place: Mill House Quilts, Waunakee, WI
Coordinator: Jayne Steffens
Presenter: Linda Honsberger, Racine, WI
Topic: Amish Quilts
Linda Honsberger’s husband has Mennonite roots and for many years they lived in Holmes County where they interacted with many Amish & Mennonite people. While Linda doesn’t claim to be an expert in Amish traditions, she has an experience level that will add insight to our current knowledge of Amish quilts. Please bring along any Amish or Mennonite quilts to share with the study group.
Additional time during our meeting will be spent on the 2014 AQSG Seminar being held in Milwaukee. Jayne Steffens is the Chairwoman for this seminar and has many ideas/strategies to discuss. She wants to share information on the tasks that need to be completed for the seminar and how we can help. Many decisions need to be made and Jayne would like the input of our group on tours, … that Wisconsin has to offer members of AQSG. We look forward to this opportunity for our study group to work together in this historical event being held in our state and pledge our support and time to it's success.
The meeting will be held upstairs at Mill House Quilts in Waunakee. The shop opens at 9:00, in case you want to shop before the meeting. We are still planning to start arriving for the meeting from 9:30 and begin the meeting at 10:00. Jayne will begin with the groundwork for the seminar, followed by Linda’s presentation. Lunch will be on our own. You can bring your own or walk across the street to the café kitty-corner from the store. (GREAT food.) After lunch, we will share quilts and finish with shopping at the store.
We hope you can join us.

Place: Oshkosh Public Museum, Oshkosh, WI
Coordinator: Donna Wisnoski

We will be at the Oshkosh Public Museum, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, with Carol Butzke doing a presentation on toile.
The curator for the museum has many pieces of antique fabrics and during this upcoming year she will go thru them and find any toile they have. She will also look through the quilts she has in storage and see if she can find any that we might be interested in seeing.
There will be a museum charge of $7. for adults and $5. for Sr. over 62. We hope this won't be a burden for anyone. Closer to that date, Donna will get a map and the location of parking for the museum. Information will be posted here. :)
